NATURAL RESOURCES

Pottery takes resources - clay, minerals, and wood.

This is where ours come from.

CLAY

A clay bed on our property provides the clay for our Melville Slip.

WOOD

We use salvaged wood to fuel our kiln and heat our workshop. Most of it grew close to home, often in our backyard. We try to make the most of this renewable, but finite resource.

BRICKS

Many bricks in the woodfired kiln were sourced used from Washington and Oregon. Our kiln is built to last, ensuring that we get the most out of the materials that went into it.

COMMUNITY

We value preserving the ecosystems that support us, including the local economy! Many of our clay and glaze materials come from the Clay Art Center in Tacoma, WA. The Olympia Farmers Market has allowed us to sell in person and meet our customers. We enjoy the company of artists and students at Arbutus Folk School.

Sustainability is ongoing and never perfect.

We are always looking for new ways to take care of what takes care of us!
